The intersection at Tilly Mill Road and North Peachtree Road in Dunwoody will be the first intersection improvement to be designed and constructed as a result of the city’s Comprehensive Transportation Plan.
It was determined to be a high priority based on community input and the existing poor level of service.
Last week, work crews performed initial construction prep and completed tree removal. Work crews will continue clearing the project right-of-ways and relocate existing utilities within the construction area.
The city has a “no net loss of trees” policy and will replace trees which were removed within the project right of way during the construction phase of the project.
While work progress dependes on the weather, over the next several weeks work will primarily concentrate on utility relocation. Crews will also be conducting geotechnical engineering work for the future storm-water detention pond on the southeastern side of the North Peachtree Road intersection.
The city does not anticipate the need for any full-time lane closures during this stage of construction, however drivers can expect temporary delays and the potential for periodic closure of one lane as flag crews help direct traffic around ongoing work.
