The Duluth Police Department will be hosting its first-ever Youth Police Academy (YPA) class July 10 through July 13 for middle school and high school students from ages 13-17 years of age. The Youth Police Academy is designed to educate students on how officers enforce local and state laws.
The goal of the YPA is to create and develop a relationship with students and give them the opportunity to learn about the Duluth Police Department’s role in the community and the delivery of services it provides.
Topics will include vehicle pullovers, K-9 and narcotics detection, officer safety, drones and how they are used in law enforcement, active shooter-run-hide-fight, gangs, CID/Crime Scene unit, and patrol techniques.
