The Duluth Police Department will hold its 4th Citizens Police Academy 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. each Thursday, Sept. 10 through Nov. 12 at the Public Safety Building, 3276 Buford Highway. Each week, students will learn about different aspects of law enforcement including laws of arrest, patrol techniques, domestic violence and crisis intervention, firearms safety, crime scene management and traffic enforcement.

Application deadline is Aug. 31, and applicants will be notified of acceptance to the program no later than Tuesday, Sept. 1. Participants must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid driver’s license and successfully pass a criminal background check.
