A special service in downtown Fayetteville will allow Fayette County residents to recycle items not normally accepted by waste collection companies or municipal facilities.

Paint, glass, packing Styrofoam, stretchy plastic bags and cords or wires can be dropped off 8-11 a.m. on Sept. 28 at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, 175 East Lanier Ave. Items should be brought to the church office parking lot at the corner of Church Street. The service is free, but donations of 25 cents per pound of paint will be appreciated. The materials will be taken to the CHaRM (Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials) facility in southeast Atlanta for proper processing.

Currently, glass is not accepted for recycling at the Fayette County Transfer Station in Fayetteville, and paint and other materials are subject to certain conditions; details are at www.fayettecountyga.gov/solid_waste/recycling.htm.
