A man driving a van was injured after being pinned under a Clayton County school bus in a wreck early Thursday morning, according to police. There were no children on the bus.

The school bus, traveling southbound on Highway 42, was making a left turn onto Evans Drive, police said.  The van, traveling northbound on Highway 42,  struck the bus and then went under it, pinning the driver, according to police spokesman Sgt. Otis Willis.

He said the van driver was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital. The extent of his injuries was unknown.

The bus driver was not injured, according to police, and was cited for failing to yield, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Willis said he did not know where the school bus was heading. Clayton County schools open on Monday, Aug. 8.
