The dredging of Lake Peachtree might not be finished in time for Peachtree City to hold its annual fireworks display on July 4. The prospect was raised by Recreation & Special Events Administrator Cajen Rhodes, who told the city council on April 2 that alternative plans are being discussed.

There have already been weather delays, and even if the dredging is completed in early June as planned, the Drake Field area where the fireworks are held will need to be restored to its original condition. Rhodes said the fireworks display could be held over Labor Day weekend, but a decision won’t be made until late April or early May.
