Local, state and federal drug agents scheduled a late-morning news conference in Lawrenceville Thursday to discuss raids that a Drug Enforcement Administration spokesman said led to dozens of arrests.

Wednesday's raids were carried out against local cells of La Familia Michoacana, a "ruthlessly violent Mexican-based drug trafficking organization," said DEA spokesman Chuvalo J. Truesdell.

The DEA was joined in the operation by agents from the Atlanta High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, the GBI  and the Gwinnett County District Attorney's office.

At least two homes in Gwinnett County were raided by agents, who also seized an undisclosed amount of drugs and currency.
