Doraville has added a new leaf vacuum truck to the city maintenance fleet.
The maintenance staff will spend this week training on how to operate the vacuuming vehicle. The truck is scheduled to begin vacuuming leaves on Monday and will run every two weeks in tandem with the city street sweeper, until Feb. 28. On successful completion of this winter season, the truck’s vacuuming schedule will be from Oct.r 1 through Feb. 28 annually.
City residents are asked to rake leaves to the curbside, but not into the street or on the sidewalk. Only non-contained leaves will be picked up. The material picked up must be free of any solid objects, such as sticks, bricks, trash, rocks, concrete, or waster material. These items will damage the vacuum truck and the property owner can be held liable for the damage.
The city will mail residents a post card reminder with the schedule details.
