Two recent grants and donations will provide new equipment for Fayette County Fire & Emergency Services.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security approved a grant of $47,273 to help purchase a new breathing compressor for the fire department. Per the terms of the grant, the county will fund the remaining $4,727 cost of the specialized device, which monitors and filters contaminants for improved firefighting and diving operations.

The Fayette Fire Foundation, a nonprofit group, has also donated two “extremely beneficial” LUCAS CPR compression devices that will improve the ability of emergency responders to transport cardiac arrest patients to the hospital.
