A raid on a dog-fighting facility in Polk County has resulted in the rescue of 33 abused dogs.

The police and sheriff there were working Wednesday with the local prosecutor to raid the facility at 569 Cashtown Loop Road in Aragon, said Sylvia Small, a spokeswoman for the company that tipped off authorities.

Small said four people were in custody. She was speaking for Norred & Associates, an Atlanta security firm that sponsors a confidential tip line. The company contacted Polk authorities after learning about the facility, Small said.

The Atlanta Humane Society sent a trailer to help evaluate and treat the 33 dogs. The place where they will be taken is a secret, Small said. Officials with the Polk police and sheriff were not immediately available for comment.
