Search efforts resumed Sunday morning on the Chattahoochee River for a man who disappeared, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Emergency service workers were called to the river near McIntosh Reserve Park in Carroll County around 8 p.m. Saturday.

Fire rescue officials, divers and boats searched for the missing 28-year-old until it was too dark to continue and the search was suspended, Channel 2 reported.

The water near the park is known to have strong currents, Carroll County Fire Chief Scott Blue told Channel 2.

“Even if you don’t see the current, there’s a lot of undercurrent,” Blue said.

A Newnan teen died in March after an accident in which she and younger sister Kendall lost control of the swim noodle they were using while in the Chattahoochee River at the McIntosh Reserve Park in Whitesburg, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.
