Cherokee County has joined its counterparts across metro Atlanta in shutting down non-essential activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency activities will be suspended through Monday, March 30. These include Recreation Center and Aquatic Center programs and adult and youth athletic leagues. Information: 770-924-7768 or www.playcherokee.org

Also March 14-30, Cherokee County Senior Services will be closed, and Senior Center activities and outings will be suspended. Meals on Wheels and Homemaker Care will continue. Information: 770-345-2675.

The Cherokee County Career Expo, set for Wednesday at the Northside Hospital Cherokee Conference Center in Canton, has been postponed.

The Cherokee County Superior Court declared a "judicial emergency" and canceled Superior Court jury trials scheduled for the weeks of March 23 and 30. "No civil or non-essential matters shall be heard by the courts unless they can be conducted via video or teleconferencing," the court said.
