Despite the terror that gripped Boston this week, thousands of people flocked to Atlanta metro festivals this weekend.

Three people were killed and more than 180 injured when two bombs exploded Monday at the Boston Marathon.

Local Atlanta officials heightened security at several points across the city in response to the attacks.

As of Sunday afternoon, the weekend had gone pretty smoothly with only a handful of minor incidents, according to festival organizers and metro police.

More than 35,000 people attended the SweetWater 420 Fest in Candler Park on Friday and Saturday, which is close to last year’s figures, SweetWater spokeswoman Francesca Zeifman said.

Dogwood Festival organizers said attendance seemed consistent with last year’s figures, too.

“The crowd has been very receptive to the wonderful spring weather and fantastic art,” Dogwood festival executive director Brian Hill said.

Atlanta police spokesman John Chafee said several people called to report suspicious packages, all of which turned out not to be a threat. None of the reported packages were at the multiple festivals taking place across the city, he said.

Chafee said three people were robbed at gunpoint at the intersection of 10th Street and Argonne Avenue, near the Dogwood Festival, on Friday night.
