Plans to renovate Oak Grove Elementary School build a new J.C. Booth Middle School in Peachtree City received startup budgets from the Fayette County Board of Education on March 25.
The board voted 5-0 to allot $250,000 for Oak Grove and $500,000 for Booth to cover architecture and engineering fees. The funds will come from SPLOST revenue. Among the renovations scheduled for Oak Grove are a new roof, HVAC system, fire alarm system, canopies and floor coverings, as well as a new administrative wing and gym. The plans were approved as a capital outlay project by the state last year but will be brought before the board when the design drawings are completed.
The county is pursuing plans to build the new Booth school on property it recently bought off Ga. Hwy. 54 and Stagecoach Road; its total cost has not been finalized.
