A retired Catoosa County deputy was killed Tuesday when his car was struck by a train, according to a media report.

Robert Patrick Ingram, 63, was killed when he tried to weave through the caution arms at a crossing, the Rome News-Tribune reported. Catoosa County is about 100 miles northwest of Atlanta.

A resident who was in traffic near the accident scene told the paper that Ingram was driving recklessly. “He went around cars that were already stopped at the intersection,” Derrick Milner said.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.
