Forsyth County deputies made a substantial heroin bust as part of an undercover operation Wednesday afternoon. One person has been arrested and the investigation is continuing.

The seizure of more than one kilo of heroin happened at a residence in Cumming following a nearly three-day investigation. The street value of the heroin was estimated at $150,000 to $250,000, Deputy Doug Rainwater said.

The heroin was so pure, it had not been packaged for distribution, deputies told Channel 2 Action News.

Forsyth County Sheriff Duane Piper told Channel 2 that he personally had never seen that much heroin in one place before.

The suspect’s name has not been released due to the ongoing investigation, but authorities believe the person moved to Forsyth County within the past several months.

“He moved here specially to set up a distribution hub here in Forsyth County,” Piper told Channel 2. “We have more people overdosing than we do dying in traffic accidents, so it’s significant right now. And a seizure of this type takes this much more off the street.”
