The Cobb County Board of Commissioners decided 7-0 on May 28 to demolish six buildings on the Windy Hill Road/Terrell Mill Road Connector.
For $70,800, they awarded the contract to W.E. Contracting Company, Inc., the low bidder.
The demolitions will include 12 condominiums at Terrell Ridge Condominiums, 27 townhomes at Turnberry Lane Townhomes and six condominiums at The Woods Condominiums.
Asbestos was identified at all of the properties.
Windy Hill Road/Terrell Mill Road Connector improvements will include a new four-lane roadway between Windy Hill Road and Terrell Mill Road with a raised center median to include a sidewalk and multi-use trail.
Totaling about 0.7 mile, the project will begin at the intersection of Windy Hill Road and Spectrum Circle and continue north to the intersection of Terrell Mill Road and Bentley Road.
Funding will come from the 2016 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).
