The DeKalb County Fire & Rescue Department received $150,000 in U.S. Department of Labor grant funding through a collaborative partnership with DeKalb Workforce Development. Funds provided on the job training for new firefighter recruits, wage subsidies, and other supportive services (e.g. transportation assistance, uniforms, and protective equipment).

DWD offers a variety of corporate initiatives not only designed to prepare prospective employees for the expectations of employers but to assist employers with improving their bottom lines. DWD covers up to 50 percent of salaries during an employer’s 90-day training period.
