DeKalb County needs 15 more volunteers to count its homeless population on Jan. 26.

More than 70  volunteers have already signed up for the annual count. The process helps measure the number of homeless people in the county as well as how well efforts to curb homelessness have worked and what more may need to be done.

Volunteers will work in teams of four – a driver, navigator, recorder and surveyor – to track the location and demographic information of DeKalb County's homeless citizens.

There are no restrictions on who can volunteer, but those under 18 must have a permission slip or be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Those willing to drive must have a valid license and insurance, and all volunteers are asked to bring a fully charged cell phone and a car charger.

Register to volunteer at 2017dekalbcountyhomelesscount.eventbrite.com.
