The DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will host a renovation planning meeting for the Glen Emerald Lake and dam 7 p.m. Jan. 31 at Gresham Recreation Center, 3113 Gresham Road SE Atlanta.

For many residents, the area is a hidden intown gem. Located south of East Atlanta it has 28 acres of playgrounds and athletic fields. A beautiful lake gives the park its name. A half-mile trail circles the lake, which has two small islands and some old stone ruins along it. The lake attracts many geese, ducks and great blue herons.
