DeKalb County police Friday identified two people killed early Wednesday when a minivan struck a jackknifed tractor-trailer in Spaghetti Junction as Sergio Martinez Acevedo and Edgar Hernandez Ochoa.

According to DeKalb police Major S.R. Fore, the wreck happened about 12:30 a.m. on I-85 northbound at I-285.

Fore said a tractor-trailer was exiting I-285 north onto I-85 north when the truck veered off the right side of the exit ramp and jackknifed. The truck traveled through the gore area and into the I-85 northbound travel lanes, where it was hit by a 1995 Chevrolet Astro minivan that was northbound in the far right lane of I-85.

The minivan’s driver and passenger were killed, Fore said.

Fore said while the accident remains under investigation, “poor weather conditions appear to be a factor in the collision.”
