Amid nationwide discussions about racism and the role of police, the head of the DeKalb County Police Department is set to answer questions from the community during a virtual Q&A this weekend.

On Sunday at 6 p.m., police Chief Mirtha Ramos will discuss department policies and address concerns during a Facebook Live stream on the department’s Facebook page.

Questions can be submitted on Facebook beforehand or during the live Q&A session.

The event follows national debates over police brutality and communities’ relationship with law enforcement.

“I want the community to know that I hear and understand their concerns and frustration,” Ramos said in a statement. “I’m hosting this Q&A to reaffirm my stance on honesty and transparency.”

Ramos took over DeKalb's police department last year after 22 years with the Miami-Dade Police Department.
