A DeKalb County police officer is on paid administrative leave following an arrest in connection with family violence, officials said.

Master Patrol Officer Todd Eason was arrested about 9 p.m. Friday at his Dunwoody home during a welfare check and charged with family/simple battery, according to a Dunwoody police report.

In his role with DeKalb police, he drove for police Chief James Conroy and, earlier in the year, drove for Public Safety Director Cedric Alexander, DeKalb police spokeswoman Shiera Campbell told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

An investigation is ongoing.
