A DeKalb County grand jury indicted a 21-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing his mother and siblings in April.

Eugene Quatron McCoy was formally charged with three counts of felony murder and aggravated assault for stabbing his mother Shelia Irons, step-sister Chastity McPherson, 11, 8-year-old step-brother Zion McPherson and his sister Candice McCoy.

Candice McCoy, 17, was the only victim who survived the attack.

An argument between McCoy and his mother on April 3 led to the slayings, investigators said.

The young man’s father, also named Eugene McCoy, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution there was a history of fighting between the two. The younger McCoy had been arrested months earlier and was on probation at the time of the slayings for attacking his sister, authorities said.

Court records showed that Irons had two restraining orders against McCoy, although the older McCoy said his wife had allowed him back into their Lithonia home on the condition that he find a job.

Eugene Quatron McCoy remains in the DeKalb County without bond.
