The victim, whose identity hasn’t been released, was found by a resident who heard gunshots and a man screaming shortly after midnight Wednesday, a police report said.

When officers arrived to the corner of Horse Shoe and Cottonwood drives, a rural spot in southeast DeKalb, the man was bleeding profusely and wasn’t breathing, the report said.

The 25-year-old 911 caller told police he’d discovered the shot man when he drove around to investigate the commotion.

The victim was facedown. Emergency medical personnel couldn’t find a pulse.
