The DeKalb County jail meets national standards, an accrediting agency said.

The American Correctional Association awarded the DeKalb County jail with its second consecutive accreditation, Sheriff Tom Brown announced Tuesday.

In October, a team of auditors visited the jail, interviewed staff, reviewed records and questioned inmates to see if the sheriff’s department meets 382 national standards, Brown said. The standards range from inmate discipline and management, to staff safety and medical care.

The accreditation is for three years.
