Since 1947, the DeKalb Historical Society, now the DeKalb History Center, has been collecting and preserving the history of DeKalb County through its archives and collections. In order to properly care for the thousands of documents and items housed in the Historic DeKalb Courthouse, each item must be stored in the proper conservation materials.
The organization invites the public to attend a Fall Open House event 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Historic DeKalb Courthouse, 101 E. Court Square, Decatur.
The open house is a kick-off the annual fundraising campaign, “Give Five for the Archives.”
Exhibits will be open and the center will be offering behind-the-scenes tours of the archives/collections areas. A cash bar will be available and the event is free and open to the public.
