DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs will hold an official groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation of the playground at Hairston Park 10 a.m. July 7 at 911 South Hairston Road, Stone Mountain.
In addition to the new playground, District 4 Commissioner Steve Bradshaw, Friends of Hairston Park and the DeKalb County Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs are planning other upgrades including, water fountains, picnic tables, grills, landscaping and a pavilion. In May, the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners approved Commissioner Bradshaw’s request to add more than $140,000 in improvements to Hairston Park. These upgrades should be completed by fall 2017.
Attendees will also learn more about the Friends of Hairston Park, upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.
