DeKalb County fire officials were investigating a house fire that left a man in critical condition Tuesday in the 1600 block of South Hidden Hills Parkway, according to DeKalb County Fire Rescue.

The man was trapped and later rescued by fire rescue workers. His wife made it out of the blaze on her own, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Officials have not yet determined the cause of the fire.

It was at least the second fire in DeKalb in two days.

The first, believed to be an accidental townhome fire in the 5800 block of Trent Walk Way, claimed the life of 49-year-old neighborhood watch participant Anthony Jackson, according to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office. Jackson died of smoke inhalation, and his death was ruled accidental, DeKalb fire Capt. Eric Jackson said.
