The DeKalb County board of health has extended its hours to help families get ready for back-to school.

The board of health will offer immunizations, along with vision, hearing and dental screenings, Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday until 7 p.m. at the North DeKalb center on Clairmont Road, the East DeKalb center on Stone Mountain-Lithonia Road, the South DeKalb center on Clifton Springs Road and the Central DeKalb center on Winn Way.

The extended back-to school services will also be held Aug. 10, Aug. 12, Aug. 17 and Aug. 19. Call the health department at 404-294-3700 for times. The county is charging $10 for vision checks, $10 for hearing screenings and $5 for dental screenings. Immunizations costs vary.

Immunizations and health screenings are required for students who attend schools in DeKalb County, Atlanta or Decatur. Most Head Start, day care centers and private pre-kindergarten programs also require immunizations, board of health officials said.
