DeKalb County is altering its trash and recycling pickup schedule next week because its sanitation division will be closed on New Year’s Day.

If your regular collection day is Monday or Tuesday, your schedule next week will not change — crews will still pick up trash and recycling on New Year’s Eve, which is Tuesday.

But DeKalb’s sanitation division will not make pickups on Jan. 1. To make up for that, the county is shifting collection days for the rest of the week:

  • Customers whose regular collection day is Wednesday will be serviced on Thursday, Jan. 2.
  • Customers whose regular collection day is Thursday will be serviced on Friday, Jan. 3.

The sanitation division’s administrative office, the Central and North Transfer Stations and the Seminole Road Landfill will also be closed on New Year’s Day and will reopen on Thursday.

DeKalb residents are able to leave their Christmas trees on the curb from now until Jan. 10; sanitation crews will pick them up for free and turn them into mulch, the county announced this week.
