Decatur’s tourism revenue has more than tripled since 2009, a period coinciding with the 2012 opening of the Courtyard Marriott, a renovation of the old Holiday Inn.

Total revenue for fiscal year 2014 was $182,110, an increase of $19,156 over FY 2013, and up by $127,101 from FY 2009. Seventy-nine percent of that total revenue comes from the hotel/motel tax. Decatur currently has three hotel/motels with a fourth, Hampton Inn and Suites Hotel, scheduled for construction next to the Marriott.

A project start date, however, still hasn’t been set.
