Decatur’s commission recently approved design services for downtown storm water improvements to commence in late spring. Total cost is $1.25 million for 1200 linear feet of pipe running from East Trinity Place at the fire station, extending east along East Howard Avenue and turning north on Barry Street.

A branch is also planned from East Howard, connecting with an existing line crossing North Candler Street. Work will take roughly one year. This will complete Decatur’s major storm water improvements that began in 2007 when a new line was built under Decatur High’s football field.
