Decatur’s school board will likely approve the Fiscal Year 2015-16 budget during its meeting, 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Central Office/Beacon Municipal Center, 125 Electric Avenue. Staff will also recommend a reduction of the millage rate by one, to 19.50 mills, meaning a 13.23 percent increase to the tax digest — an anticipated $3.6 million increase in tax revenues.

Also at the meeting, consultant Brad Draeger will give his initial formal report regarding the superintendent search. Draeger spent last week meeting with community and stakeholder groups including public housing officials, city commissioners and staffers, ministers, teachers, and principals. Draeger’s goal is for the board to announce a new superintendent in September.
