A Decatur man was sentenced Wednesday to 27 years in prison for committing three bank robberies — including a Dunwoody one, where the tellers were forced at gunpoint into the vault and ordered them to hand over more than $71,000.

Torrey Marable, 21, also was ordered to pay $89,644 in restitution.

Co-defendants, Rico Blackwell, 22, and Jason Blackwell, 32, meanwhile, drew federal prison sentences of 138 months and 84 months, respectfully. A fourth co-defendant, Deandre Markee King, 28, of Decatur, is set to be sentenced Aug. 28.

“Serious violent crimes should be met with serious prison sentences,” U.S. Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said Wednesday. “These men terrorized bank employees when they entered the banks they robbed with guns drawn.”

Prosecutors said Marable, Rico Blackwell and King, were brandishing guns when they entered the PNC Bank on Mount Vernon Road in Dunwoody on Aug. 20, 2012, ordering the tellers into the vault and forcing them to hand over more than $71,000.

Marable robbed a Fifth Third Bank on Piedmont Avenue in Atlanta on Aug. 9, 2012 and a BB&T in Marietta, prosecutors said.

They said Marable and King canvassed another bank in Austell on Sept. 4, 2012, forming plans to rob it. They were back in the area the next day, with half-brothers Jason and Rico Blackwell.

But police were on the lookout for a car matching the one driven by Jason Blackwell and pulled the vehicle over, prosecutors said.

Inside police saw Marable, King and Rico Blackwell, all with semi-automatic handguns within their reach. They also found two surgical masks, two bandannas and latex gloves, prosecutors said.

Marable will spent five years on supervised release after his prison time. Rico Blackwell was ordered to pay $71,668, and both he and Jason Blackwell will face three years of supervised release after prison.

The FBI investigated the cases, with assistance from the Cobb County and Austell police departments.
