First-year Decatur Commissioner Kelly Walsh is hosting her first “Open Office Hour” Oct. 3, streamed live 7-8 p.m. at http://www.decaturga.com/ci…/city-commission/streaming-video. Questions for Walsh can be submitted in advance up until 2 p.m. Wednesday at https://www.opentownhall.com/6774.
Questions can also be submitted via Facebook, Twitter, email and phone, with links getting posted just prior to streaming.
Walsh is discussing shared green spaces within the city, specifically those areas used by both the city’s recreation department and school system.
“I think some people were frustrated with the [master planning process for the former United Methodist Children’s Home property, acquired last year by the city],” Kelly said recently. “By that I mean some were disappointed that there weren’t more of the type athletic facilities they were looking for.
“I want to talk about,” she added, “how we have limited land within the city, and that we’ve been sharing spaces for a long time and will continue doing so far into the future.”
Walsh was elected last November. The host for Wednesday’s livestream is longtime Assistant City Manager Lyn Menne.
