Two people were killed early Saturday in a fiery, two-car crash in Cherokee County, a sheriff’s official said.

The head-on collision was on Wade Green Road at Oak Lane near Woodstock, Channel 2 reported. A truck going the wrong way collided with a car in the southbound lane, Cherokee sheriff’s spokesman Jay Baker said.

The truck, a Ford Ranger, overturned several times and caught fire after it hit the Honda Civic, the Georgia State Patrol said. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

No identities were released, pending notification of family members, the GSP said.

Wade Green Road is expected to be closed to traffic until further notice. The GSP is leading the investigation.
