Dacula, in partnership with Gwinnett DOT, has released project details for the Dacula Road/U.S. 29 intersection and bridge project. The plan calls for replacing the existing two lane bridge over the CSX railroad with a new five-lane bridge on Dacula Road. Construction will vertically and horizontally realign Dacula Road at State Route 8/U.S. 29/Winder Highway and widen S.R. 8/US 29/Winder Highway from two to three lanes starting east of Murray Avenue to Franklin Drive. The project will also widen Dacula Road from Pharr Avenue to Broad Street as well as upgrade the traffic signal.

The $9.5 million project is funded by SPLOST 2009, 2014, and the Department of Water Resources with the construction contract awarded to GP’s Enterprises.

Construction is beginning in mid-May with an anticipated completion date in early 2021.
