A Lanier Technical College professor remembered Skyler Zane Taylor as an enthusiastic criminal justice student. He took “five or six” of her classes and often stayed after class to talk, according to a Gwinnett County Police Report.
The Buford professor thought Taylor may have had a crush on her, since he often offered to carry her bags and sent her an “abnormally large amount of emails,” the report said.
When she started receiving unsolicited pictures of a man’s penis, she didn’t suspect it could be him.

In December, the professor began receiving the photos from a number she didn’t recognize. She got one on Christmas morning, captioned “Merry Christmas ;).”
She sent these photos and messages to the Gwinnett County Police Department.
Phone records showed the number belonged to a “Zane Taylor.” Research pointed a Gwinnett County police officer to 20-year-old Skyler Zane Taylor, of Cumming.
The professor remembered Taylor from class, and told the police officer her cell phone number was printed on the syllabuses she distributed to students. She thought Taylor “would know she would not want pictures of his penis.”
The officer obtained a warrant for Taylor’s arrest on Jan. 31. He was arrested and charged with distributing obscene material on Feb. 22. He bonded out of the Gwinnett County Detention Center on $2,950 bond the same day.
