East Point residents, businesses and associations have until Thursday to donate funds to supply trash cans to the bus stop of their choice through Operation CleanStop, a crowd-funding program for trash cans at 300 MARTA bus stops. The initiative kicked off in early October.
Every bus stop reaching $200 will receive a trash can, to be periodically serviced by the city. People can also contribute to the general fund, which will help partially funded bus stops get to the $200 minimum.
The effort will help beautify neighborhoods and improve the MARTA ridership experience by combatting litter problems. Twenty percent of East Point’s population uses the bus as their main mode of transportion, according to Operation CleanStop.
