A man is using Craigslist to set up meetings so he can rob people of the popular new iPad 2 devices, Dunwoody police believe.

The iPad 2 debuted on March 11 at a retail price of $499.

Three robberies this month all bear "multiple similarities," police said in a release.

In each case, the suspect responded to a Craigslist ad offering the iPad 2 and arranged to meet the seller at a Walmart parking lot. Then he grabbed the iPad 2 and ran to a nearby apartment complex.

In the second incident, about 4:15 p.m. on March 19, the victim began to chase the suspect. The suspect stopped and pointed a gun at the victim, police said.

The other incidents occurred at 12:50 p.m. on March 19, and 7:45 p.m. on March 22.

The iPad 2 is the latest generation of Apple's tablet computer. Apple CEO Steve Jobs noted the iPad 2 has front- and rear-facing cameras for video and a much faster processor, and is "dramatically thinner" than the iPad.

Anyone with information on the incidents is urged to call Dunwoody Police Sgt. Gary Cortellino at 678-382-6908 or email gary.cortellino@dunwoodyga.gov.
