A Coweta County man will spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted of charges he had sexual contact with children.

Sol Jason Moon, 54, was convicted on one count of aggravated child molestation, three counts of child molestation, three counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of sexual exploitation of a child, Kevin McMurry, senior assistant district attorney for Coweta County, told the AJC.

Moon was sentenced to two life sentences Saturday by Senior Judge William Ison. The life sentences will run consecutively, McMurry said. He said Moon would not be eligible for parole for 60 years.

Moon and his wife were operating an unlicensed day-care facility at their home in east Coweta and were caring for as many as 15 children, McMurry said. He said the assaults took place over several years.

Moon’s wife did not face any charges.

Moon was arrested May 27 after a parent contacted the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office and said a child had made accusations against Moon, according to Major James Yarbrough.

McMurry said prosecutors were “pleased with the verdict.” He said the life sentences “made sure that children are protected in our community.”
