The Georgia Supreme Court on Monday reversed the murder conviction against Tommy Tyrone Griffin, who was accused of killing a man during a drug transaction.

The court found prosecutors had failed to prove that Griffin also was guilty of conspiring to traffic cocaine. Because Griffin’s felony murder conviction was predicated on that drug offense, his murder conviction also must be reversed, the court said in a 4-3 decision. Griffin was accused of the April 8, 2010, killing of Pedro Ortiz-Gonzalez during a shootout at the Sinclair Apartments.
