Several couples were left scrambling after a Gwinnett wedding venue’s abrupt closing threw thousands of dollars and their wedding plans into question.
“We were having our dream wedding,” customer Mark DaCosta told WSB-TV. “I’m out $8,000. There’s other people as well.”
A reporter from Channel 2 Action News found Elaborate Events in Duluth locked and surrounded by yellow tape. The business’s listing on Google lists it as “permanently closed.”
DaCosta said he has contacted Gwinnett police, who told him they can’t help him because he must file a civil suit against the proprietors of Elaborate Events.
Channel 2 tried to visit the home of the business owner. They said the person who answered the door said the owner was not home.
“It was such a nice place, and to find out that it’s not gonna happen where we thought it was gonna happen—it’s a real heartbreaker,” DaCosta said.
