A Gwinnett County couple is accused of shooing at a Norcross apartment, wounding one of the residents.

Edgar Reyes and Aileen Ayala have each been charged with nine counts of aggravated assault and two counts of reckless conduct in connection with the incident.

Ayala has been charged with one additional count of battery and Reyes has been charged with reckless driving, DUI, open container and driving without a license.

Ayala showed up at the apartment Sunday night. She shares a child with one of the residents and demanded that the child go with her.

Before leaving with the child, Ayala slapped the child’s father multiple times and told the occupants of the apartment that she would kill them, a police report said.

Ayala and Reyes got into an argument with a cousin of the child’s father earlier that day at an event at Gwinnett Place Mall, police said. The cousin was not at the apartment during the confrontation.

Ayala returned with Reyes, her boyfriend, later that night the report said. The couple called for the child’s father to come outside. When he did, the man saw that Reyes had a gun, police said. Ayala and Reyes were both “yelling about killing everyone,” the report said.

Ayala attempted to force herself into the apartment, police said. Reyes began shooting at the apartment, hitting the man Ayala shares a child with, the report said. Another resident was grazed by a bullet as she tried to get her son away from the gunfire.

Police recovered eight bullets at the scene. Reyes and Ayala were arrested Monday and are being held without bond.
