Cobb government gets AAA bond rating
Cobb County government has received a top AAA rating from three bond rating agencies, Standard and Poor’s, Fitch, and Moody’s. The agencies noted Cobb’s financial health based on size, economic and employment base, satisfactory fund balance levels and low debt.
Cobb officials said the county has had a triple-A rating for 18 years.

Dacula contracts with Buford for gas services
Dacula has agreed to enter a 10-year natural gas franchise agreement with the city of Buford.
Under the new agreement, Dacula will receive 4 percent of the gross revenue for sales and distribution of natural gas.
Under Dacula’s previous two 30-year agreements, the city did not receive any sales or distribution revenues. Information: www.daculaga.gov.

Forsyth sets hearing on potential code changes
The Forsyth County Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to consider a possible change to the county’s Unified Development Code at 6:30 p.m. April 22 at the Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main St., Cumming.
The commission seeks comment on a possible amendment to chapter 10 of the code on non-conforming lots.
The change would allow protection of a property owners non-conforming status when a lot is reduced by being condemned or sold, or dedicated to an entity with the power of condemnation. Mark Woolsey for the AJC

Cherokee black Republicans to meet
The Cherokee County Black Republican Council meets 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Village At Towne Lake, 310 Gray Shingle Lane, Woodstock. The event will include a business meeting, a black conservative roundtable, and a live broadcast/taping of “The Black and White of It” internet talk show.

Fulton seeks proposals for community grants
Applications and manuals will be available Monday for individuals and groups in Fulton County interested in submitting proposals for Community Development Block Grants.
The county Department of Housing and Human Services, Housing and Community Development Division, is seeking proposals for fiscal years 2015, 2016 and 2017. Funding is available for projects and services that primarily benefit low- and moderate-income residents.

Piedmont Fayette gets cancer accreditation
Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville is now accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. Both it and Piedmont Atlanta were granted a three-year Accreditation with Commendation via the Piedmont Cancer network.
