Canton long range planning group to meet

The first meeting of the “Commission on Canton’s Future” is set for 6 pm. today on the third floor of City Hall, 151 Elizabeth St., Canton. The organizational meeting may focus on selecting leadership and deciding on meeting format. Mayor Gene Hobgood created the group based on resident feedback that the city lacked a long range plan. County seeks input on flex bus route

Cobb commissioners are asking for community input on a new flex bus route that will run primarily in the south Cobb area. The unique “flex” route unveiled will serve both disabled riders who need curb-to-curb service and traditional passengers who want to pick up the bus at a fixed stop. Cobb celebrates grant program

The Cobb County Community Development Block Grant Program Office Thursday hosted an event to highlight the success of the program and the Nobis Work’s Reworx Center. Since 2002, Nobis Works has received more than $1 million in grant program funds. Forsyth schools set budget timeline

The Forsyth County Board of Education has adopted a timeline for consideration of the 2014 budget. Chief financial officer Dan Jones says initial budget recommendations will be presented May 9, with tentative approval May 16. Final approval is set for June 20. The fiscal year begins July 1. Moss to host town hall meeting

District I Commissioner Bo Moss will hold his first town hall meeting 9 a.m. Saturday, at the Locust Grove Recreation Center. Scheduled guest speakers will be state representatives Andy Welch (District 110) and Brian Strickland (District 111). The focus of the meeting will be to give citizens a legislative update on achievements during the 2013 legislative session at the State Capitol.
