Darnell hosts town hall meetings
Fulton County Commission Vice Chairwoman Emma Darnell will host two town hall meetings in February.
The first will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 18 at Southwest Arts Center, 915 New Hope Road, Atlanta. The second will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 26 at the Bowen-Bankhead Atlanta-Fulton Library Branch, 2685 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW, Atlanta.

Fulton nonprofits can apply for county grants
Fulton County is taking applications for 2013-14 Human Services and Fulton Roundtable Expanded Service Headquarters, or FRESH, grants. Fulton nonprofits that provide aging, disability, employment, homelessness, housing, HIV/AIDS and youth and family services can apply online at fultoncountyga.gov/WebGrants.
The deadline is 3 p.m. Feb. 22.

Powder Springs seeks redistricting input
Powder Springs is considering a redistricting plan, based upon the 2010 Census, to apply to this year’s City Council elections for three posts.
The maps may be viewed at 7 p.m. Tuesday during the city’s State of the City/Town Hall meeting at the Ford Center, 4181 Atlanta St. behind the Powder Springs Library.
They also may be viewed at the library, City Hall, 4484 Marietta St. and at cityofpowdersprings.org/DocumentCenter/Index/88.

Piedmont Henry offers heart health screening
Piedmont Henry Hospital will be offering heart health screenings 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Walmart on Hudson Bridge Road, Stockbridge.
Participants can receive free total cholesterol screenings and cardiovascular risk assessments. Fasting isn’t required.

DeKalb youth soccer registration under way
Registration is open for youth soccer leagues in DeKalb County.
Registration is open until Feb. 15 at all county recreation centers for the league, which is open to children between ages 5 and 14.
