The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted at its Jan. 22 regular meeting to support an agreement to move forward with the Everly project, also known as Jodeco South, at the corner of Jodeco Road and I-75.

The land owner has offered to donate six acres from the site to the county for construction of a conference center, and the county committed $5 million in SPLOST funds to ensure the roads for the mixed-use project are completed. But the agreement requires the de-annexation of the property from Stockbridge, and city officials stated that they were not in favor of that. A statement from the city noted that county leaders had not reached out to the city in any way before the discussion at the commission meeting.

The county has no part in the de-annexation process, and the county attorney stated that if Stockbridge refuses to de-annex the site, the agreement is dead.
