Marietta city councilman Philip Goldstein has submitted plans to build a three-story building on the Marietta Square for a brew pub and restaurant with a roof top patio.

Goldstein said he has a signed lease for the building at North Park Square and Root Streetand construction could start in mid-August. If the city’s Historic Board of Review recommends the project at a Feb. 2 meeting, it will move to the city council for a final vote.

The property has remained vacant for four years after the city lowered downtown building heights and derailed Goldstein’s plans for a five-story building on the site.
